Head to the Beach!
Whether you’re looking for winter sun or summer sun, a break on the beach is always just the ticket for rest and relaxation. Think back to your family holidays when you were a child, probably many of them were located on a beach, where you spent hours soaking up the sun, splashing in the surf, paddling, laughing, and building sandcastles – these are the iconic images of any beach break.
These days we are blessed with plentiful options when it comes to destination, and they don’t have to break the bank either! Family beach holidays need to be cheap but they also need to have everything included to keep children happy, such as attractions, safe beaches, good quality accommodation, and restaurants to cater for fussy eaters!
Low cost airlines have certainly helped matters, allowing more and more of us to travel further, for less cash. Europe is packed with plentiful summer holiday beach destinations, such as Spain, Portugal, the Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands, Malta, Turkey, Greece, and Italy, and all of these destinations are perfect for families. Of course, you could stay closer to home and holiday in your home country, but if you want to open up your child’s eyes to the world, let them experience different cultures, and get a sure-fire suntan at the same time, it’s always a great idea to jump on a plane.
What do you look for in a beach break?
For most of us it would be the following:
- Clean beaches that are easily accessible
- A range of water-sports and fun activities to enjoy during the daytime hours
- Vibrant but not too raucous nightlife
- A large range of accommodation, often with Kids’ Clubs to occupy the little ones
- All inclusive accommodation too
- A range of restaurants, including international and local dishes to suit all appetites
- Shopping opportunities
- A range of excursions available to sites of interest in and around the resort
- Easy to get around
- Practically guaranteed good weather
This is pretty much what we ask for from a beach holiday destination – we don’t ask for much, do we?!
Luckily most resorts offer all of these areas, whether you stick to Europe or you go further afield. If you do want to splash the cash a little, check out the Indian Ocean resorts, the Thai islands, or even the Caribbean. These destinations will cost you a little more but you will get complete and utter idyllic surroundings to enjoy, whilst still being very family friendly too.
It’s time to get bikini shopping!
